Students, Alumni and Donors Rally after Hurricane Harvey

Houston’s university is standing #HoustonStrong and #CougarStrong after Hurricane Harvey, and students, alumni and community members are stepping up in a major way to support their fellow Houstonians in the aftermath. In fact, two anonymous donors have given $500,000 to the Cougar Emergency Fund, and are challenging the Cougar community to raise $500,000 more. Congratulations to the class of 2017! On May 17, 5,193 degrees were awarded (with the total number of degrees awarded for the 2016-17 school year being 8,690). That’s a lot of promising Coogs! Read on to learn more about what our amazing students and alumni have been up to:

Shasta’s Round-Up: April 2017

On April 15, UH unveiled a 1,400-pound bronze cougar statue of Shasta I located at TDECU Stadium. A gift from dedicated alumni and donors, the statue measures 15 feet long, 4 feet wide, and 5 feet tall.

Students celebrated with friends and family at UH’s oldest and proudest tradition, Frontier Fiesta. The event featured artist D.R.A.M, cook-offs, competitions, variety shows, carnival rides, and performances by students. Before you go, check out what else your fellow Coogs are up to:

The UH Rec Center rose to occasion (of Valentine’s Day, that is) this month with a festive display and positive message for students. As part of the “Here, We Go” campaign, an event called Make A Wish for UH was held at the Cullen Family Plaza Fountains on Jaunaruy 19, featuring 1,000 luminarias.
