UH System Fundraising Campaign Surpasses $1 billion Goal

Eighteen months ahead of schedule, the University of Houston System fundraising campaign, “Here, We Go,” has raised $1.003 billion, surpassing its goal of $1 billion. The campaign will continue to build on this momentum to go ‘Beyond the Billion’ before it concludes in 2020. “Everywhere you look at the University of Houston, you can see the Powerhouse growing, and you can be certain it would not be possible without the generous support of our alumni base and our corporate neighbors near and far who continue to help us make transformational changes to the University,” said Eloise Brice, University of Houston System vice chancellor for university advancement. “I am most inspired that 178,909 people have already committed support to the University, and I am excited about what that means for the rest of our campaign.” More than 178,000 donors, including 126,000 new donors, have contributed to the campaign, which began quietly in 2012 and launched publicly in January 2017. University of Houston Hilton college to Undergo $30.4 Million Expansion

A $30.4 million project to expand and renovate the Hilton University of Houston, the teaching hotel for students at UH’s Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management, has been approved by the University of Houston System Board of Regents. The project is financed through a revenue bond issued by the University of Houston System, which will be repaid with additional revenue generated by the hotel. Hilton College is the only hospitality program in the world where students work and take classes in an internationally branded, full-service hotel — 70 percent of hotel team members are students. The project approval coincides with the 50th anniversary of the college and the 100th anniversary of Hilton.

UHAA Creates the Cougar 100 Business Network

Small businesses are generally considered the backbone of ingenuity and make significant impacts to the local economy. The UH Alumni Relations office understands that and wants to help all UH alumni business leaders to continue to grow and impact our ever-changing communities. Whether it’s a privately owned company, a partnership, sole proprietorship or home-based business, all business leaders are encouraged to join the Cougar 100 Business Network. “UHAA invites all alumni business leaders to join the network, we not only celebrate the achievements of our alumni leaders, we also aim to help them grow their business,” said Mike Pedé (’89), Associate VP of Alumni Relations and UHAA.
